Dr. Vasilis Burganos coordinated a symposium on Membranes in the framework of the 2002 MRS Fall meeting

In the framework of the 2002 MRS Fall meeting, a symposium on Membranes (Boston, Dec. 2-6, 2002) was coordinated by Dr. Vasilis Burganos, Research Director at FORTH/ICE-HT.

This interdisciplinary symposium brought together scientists involved in the entire spectrum of modern approaches in membrane science and technology, and addressed synthesis, characterization, transport properties, and their use in established and emerging applications. Key aspects included novel membrane materials, membrane surface modification, and correlation between structure and properties using reliable simulators and experimental techniques.

The Symposium was chaired by:

Vasilis N. Burganos, Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences, FORTH/ICE-HT, Patras, Greece
Richard D. Noble, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, Univ. Colorado, Boulder, CO, USA
Masashi Asaeda, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, Hiroshima Univ., Higashi-Hiroshima, Japan
André Ayral, Institut Européen des Membranes, Univ. Montpellier II, Montpellier, France
Johann D. LeRoux, Innovative Membrane Systems, Inc. (Praxair, Inc.), Norwood, MA, USA
