Renewal of Prof. Nicholas Moschonas’ Appointment to the National Commission for Bioethics and Technoethics
Prof. Nicholas Moschonas, Affiliated Scientist at ICE-HT and Professor Emeritus of the Department of Medicine at the University of Patras, as renewed his term of office for another four years on the National Commission for Bioethics and Technoethics.
According to the Government Gazette (FEK 887/2026), the new composition of the Commission has been appointed for a four-year term (2026-2030). The participation of members of our research community in prestigious institutions of national standing constitutes a great honor for the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT) and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) as a whole.
The Commission performs highly critical work, issuing opinions and recommendations on cutting-edge issues at the intersection of science, technology, and society. Among the Commission’s most recent and notable interventions are:
- The Opinion: “On the applications of Artificial Intelligence in Greek schools”
- The Recommendations of: “Protection of adolescents from exposure to gambling”
- and: “Bioethical dimensions of newborn genetic screening using whole genome sequencing”
