Participation of ICE-HT in the two-day Workshop “Innovation in Western Greece and the Institutions that support it 3.0” March 16-17, 2023

The University of Patras and the Department of Technology Transfer, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, together with the “Network of Technology Transfer Offices of the Universities of Patras & Peloponnese” and the project “METON – Support for Entrepreneurship Actions, Innovation and Maturation for the Exploitation of Research Activity and New Products and Services developed at the University of Patras” co-organized with the “NBG Business Seeds” program of the National Bank of Greece the two-day workshop “Innovation in Western Greece and the Institutions that support it 3.0” in the framework of the Regional Growth Conference, on March 16-17, 2023, at the Conference and Cultural Center of the University of Patras. In addition, a two-day event, namely, the “Bootcamp Match & Develop a Startup Patras 4.0”, was organized for research teams and startups.
The aim of the event was to promote exploitable research results and to link research with investment institutions.
The initiatives of FORTH/ICE-HT in the field of innovation were presented in a special session dedicated to “Technology Transfer Networks in Research Centers and Early Stage Innovation Support Structures” on Thursday, March 16. The Institute was represented by the Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute, Dr. Th. Ioannidis. The Director of FORTH/ICE-HT, Dr. V. Burganos, in his capacity also as Vice President of the Hellenic Center for Additive Manufacturing S.A. – HCAM (Competence Centre of GSRI), participated in the session “Digital Innovation Hubs and Centers of Excellence”, on Friday, March 17.
A total of 17 research teams and start-ups participated in the “Bootcamp Match & Develop a Startup Patras 4.0” event, including two research teams from FORTH/ICE-HT.
Postdoctoral researchers, Dr. Z. Lada and Dr. G. Mathioudakis, from the research group headed by Dr. G. Voyiatzis (Research Director of FORTH/ICE-HT), presented their idea for ‘Smart Food Packaging’.
Also, Dr. Theophilos Ioannidis (Research Director of FORTH/ICE-HT) in collaboration with Dr. Vassileios Dracopoulos (Senior Application Scientist of FORTH/ICE-HT) and their post-doctoral associate, Dr. D. Vroulias, presented their idea for ‘Air Dehumidifying Membranes’.
These two ideas shared the 1st prize and qualified for the 2nd phase of the 14th Innovation & Technology Competition to be organized by the National Bank of Greece in the framework of the NBG Business Seeds program, at the end of the year.
