FORTH/ICE-HT participated in the events of the “2017 Patras Science Festival”, which was organized by the educational organization “Science Communication – SciCo” and the Hellenic Open University (EAP), in collaboration with academic and research institutions, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology and EAP. The events took place in Patras from May 10 to 13, 2017 and were hosted at the Hellenic Open University and in selected venues in the city center of Patras, Greece.

Members of FORTH/ICE-HT participated in the following events:

• Thursday, May 11, at 18:30 at the ACT Theater. Dr. Giannis Parthenios gave a speech on “Playing LEGO in the world of nanotechnology” (in collaboration with the Union of Greek Physicists)
• Friday 12 May, 19:00 – 20:00, at the alternative cafe “BRIDGES”. Round table discussion on the role of materials in the society of the future – modern materials. Stelios Kouris, Professor at Dept. of Physics, University of Patras, and collaborating Faculty member of FORTH/ICE-HT and EAP, gave a speech on “The fascinating properties of the latest forms of carbon and their effects on nano-science and nano-technology”. Also, Theophilos Ioannides, Research Director at FORTH/ICE-HT, gave a speech on “Nanomaterials and new technologies in energy”.
• Saturday, May 13, 19:00 at the premises of EAP. Spyros Yannopoulos, Research Director at FORTH/ICE-HT, gave a speech on the subject “Art and technology of glass and amorphous materials from antiquity to present”.
