FORTH/ICE-HT at the 6th Patras Innovation Quest (PatrasIQ)
FORTH/ICE-HT participated in the 6th Patras Innovation Quest, Patras IQ, which took place in the premises of the South Port of Patras from 12 to 14 April 2019, with its own stand, which hosted also PRAXI Network and a technology demo from FORTH/IMBB. The following technologies of ICE-HT were demonstrated at the exhibition center:
High pressure H2O electrolysis array: It concerns a compressor of small size & weight, for the production of pure hydrogen and oxygen at high pressure conditions (80 bar), for space & terrestrial applications. The research work was funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) under the contract “Development of a Closed Loop Regenerative HT PEM Fuel Cell System”. The demonstration was accompanied by a video explaining the device and its importance for space applications.
Cleaning heavily contaminated soils with cold plasma: A plasma reactor was demonstrated at the exhibition center, aiming at the complete, fast and inexpensive destruction of subsoil pollutants. The research work was funded by the European Union and the General Secretariat for Research and Technology and was awarded the 2nd Prize for Applied Research in the 3rd Competition “Greece Innovates” organized by SEV and Eurobank. The demonstration was accompanied by a video explaining the technology and its application for soil remediation.
Certification of crop & product quality with metabolomic & systemic biology.Systemic Agrobiotechnology: New technologies for high-throughput biomolecular analysis were presented for the standardization of the quality control monitoring of the crop productivity and the agricultural product, as well as the timely and accurate identification of stress conditions for the plants.
Lightweight, Flexible, Intelligent Textiles for Citizen ProtectionServices: The aim of the project is to develop flexible & light textile panels that are resistant to ballistic and / or knife tests, the reduced maintenance requirements, the increase of the sensitivity / warning, the comfort and the acceptance by the users, and the implementation and evaluation of the prototypes.
The stand was visited by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Sia Anagnostopoulou, the Regional Governor of Western Greece, Mr. Apostolos Katsifaras and representatives from various local and national bodies.
