FORTH / ICE-HT at the 22nd Forum of Development, Patras
The conference event of the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of the Foundation for Research and Technology, Hellas (FORTH / ICE-HT) on “Smart Solutions for the Environment and Health” took place in the framework of the 22nd Forum of Development, on Saturday 23 November 2019 at 12:00, at the Hotel ASTIR, in Patras.
The Director of the Institute, Dr. Vasilis Burganos, presented the main areas of research activities at FORTH / ICE-HT, its scope in the direction of smart solutions for environment and health, and the framework of collaboration with enterprises and organizations that promote innovation in the subject.
Short addresses followed by Professor Kleomenis Barlos, President of SEVPDE (Federation of Enterprises of Peloponnese and Western Greece), and by Dr. Petros Ganos, coordinator of the action “Patras – Smart City”, on behalf of the Municipality of Patras.
Then, Dr. Alexander Maniatopoulos, General Manager of Yodiwo S.A., presented the SmartAQM research project that he coordinates and involves FORTH / ICE-HT as a partner. The project deals with the development of an effective management platform for smart buildings and cities. Dr. Elias Maglogiannis, Professor of University of Piraeus and Technical Director of the research project SISEI that also involves FORTH / ICE-HT as a partner, referred to procedures of using e-health and emotional information technologies to support long-term treatment of outpatients of Rehabilitation and Recovery Centers. Finally, Dr. Vassilis Papakonstantinou, Chairman of MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) Greece, an association for the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship in Greece, analyzed the issue of turning Greece into a technology hub by 2021 and introduced the forthcoming “MITEF Greece Startup Competition 2020”.
A discussion between the participants and the invited speakers followed.
The event was attended by private sector representatives, executives from enterprises and members of the academic and research community.
FORTH / ICE-HT also participated in the Forum of Development with its own booth presenting the research activities at the Institute.
