Award to a postdoctoral researcher of ICE-HT by the Association “Friends of FORTH”
Dr. Nikolaos Samartzis, a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of FORTH (FORTH/ICE-HT), received the award of the Association of “Friends of FORTH” at an event held on Friday 25 April 2025, at the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce with topic “Biotechnology in a critical era”. The award was presented by the President of the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Vangelis Karkanakis, and was received by Dr. Elli Bellou, wife of Dr. Samartzis, as Nikolaos was unable to attend being currently at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. A special committee has been established to award the prize, which unanimously selected Dr. Nikolaos Samartzis among ten candidates based on academic criteria. The award is accompanied by a monetary award of 3.000 € funded by the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce.
