PICKLE: Standardized meta-database of the human and mouse protein interaction network
The Protein InteraCtion KnowLedgebasE (PICKLE; www.pickle.gr) is a meta-database of the human and recently mouse experimentally-determined direct protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, integrating major primary datasets over the genetic information ontology network of the UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot reviewed human complete proteome (RHCP). This ontology-based structure constitutes PICKLE the only PPI meta-database enabling the evaluation of the human interactome expansion at both the protein and gene levels through comparison of its successive releases. PICKLE has been co-developed by University of Patras (Prof. N. K. Moschonas’ research team) and FORTH/ICE-HT (Metabolic Engineering & Systems Biology Laboratory, Dr. M. I. Klapa). PICKLE has been supported by ELIXIR-GR structural funding, is is included in the ELIXIR bio.tools repository and can be accessed through https://bio.tools/PICKLE.
