Participation of FORTH/ICE-HT at the 28th Development Forum 2025
The Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH/ICE-HT) participated dynamically and with great success in the 28th Development Forum, which took place in Patras, at My Way Hotel, November 22-23, 2025.
The Institute’s presence focused on two main areas:
- Exhibition Booth. During the Forum, the institute maintained an exhibition booth where staff members had the opportunity to present the Institute’s research work, innovative activities, and technological applications to a wide audience (visitors, entrepreneurs, students, and representatives of organizations).
- Participation in a Roundtable Conference Event. On Saturday, November 22, participated actively in the conference event on the theme: “Towards a Unified Area of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation: The Knowledge Ecosystem is Being Restructured.” The event, organized on the initiative of the Forum’s Organizing Committee, was attended by representatives from the Region of Western Greece, all Academic and Research Institutions of Western Greece and representatives of the industry. The keynote speaker for the event was the former Secretary General of Higher Education, Dr. Apostolis Dimitropoulos, Special Advisor on Education issues to the Presidency of the Government, while Mr. Michalis Dritsas moderated the event.
The Institute was represented by its Director, Dr. Theophilos Ioannides, who contributed his views and experience to the relevant discussion, which focused on three key areas:
- The necessity of forming a Unified Ministry for Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in Greece.
- The enhancement of the European economy’s competitiveness through technological innovation, and
- the role of the Region and Regional Councils for Research and Innovation in developing the new local knowledge ecosystem.
ICEHT participation in the Development Forum highlighted its role in promoting research and innovation in Western Greece and the national strategy.
