RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Understanding and manipulating material properties (structural, vibrational, electronic, mechanical, magnetic and superconducting) both chemically (electron/hole doping, modifying the chemical composition or decorating the graphitic surfaces of carbon nanomaterials) and physically (varying an external parameter like temperature, pressure, strain/stress and magnetic field). Current research activities include CVD synthesis of transition metal dichalcogenides (e.g. MoS2, WS2, WSe2, MoxW1-xS2), optical and mechanical properties of 2D materials, production of high volume fraction polymer nanocomposites based on CNTs and 2D materials with superior electrical/thermal/mechanical properties. The experimental findings supported by numerical simulations and theoretical methods such as phenomenological lattice dynamics, molecular dynamics, first-principles calculations, and group theory.
