SUMMER SCHOOL DOMUS 8-20/7/2019

SUMMER SCHOOLS

The “Summer school on Wastewater Treatment Technologies and Environmental Impact (SSWT_2019)” was organized on July 8-20, 2019, in Ancient Olympia, in the context of the project Optimization of decentralized domestic wastewater treatment and sanitation through Constructed Wetlands (DOMUS_CW). FORTH / ICE-HT is the coordinator of the project (scientific coordinator: Prof. Gerasimos Lymberatos, collaborating faculty member of the Institute). The objective of the summer school was to train (postgraduate and undergraduate) students on ways to advance the development of Balkan countries and the Mediterranean through the creation of sustainable infrastructure and to find solutions in key issues of wastewater treatment and water reuse, thus promoting local technical capabilities and ensuring their sustainability. Among the top priorities of the project is the transfer of know-how and good practices to other Balkan countries, which will be achieved through targeted education, training and dissemination actions, including this school.

The summer school was attended by 20 (postgraduate and undergraduate) students, from Cyprus, Greece and other Balkan countries. Trainers included PIs from the involved project partners and invited experts in the topics of the school.
