| Title: | Design and Development of Functional Materials in the Field of Inorganic Chemistry |
| Abstract: | The design and development of functional materials based on coordination chemistry constitute a central pillar of modern Inorganic Chemistry, as they enable the control of physicochemical properties through molecular architecture and supramolecular interactions. The ability to correlate structure–property–function relationships renders inorganic and hybrid materials particularly attractive for a wide range of applications. Of special interest are transition metal complexes exhibiting the Spin Crossover (SCO) phenomenon, which represent characteristic examples of molecular bistability. The controlled tuning of the spin-state transition temperature remains a critical challenge for the effective utilization of SCO materials. In parallel, Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) constitute a highly important class of inorganic materials, where the 2D or 3D coordination of metal ions with organic linkers gives rise to structures with high adsorption capacity and diverse physicochemical properties, offering new opportunities, through rational design, for environmental and energy-related applications. |
| Short CV: | Dr. Zoi Lada is an Ass. Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Patras (UP). She holds a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Analytical Chemistry and Nanotechnology. She completed her PhD as a fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT/FORTH), registered in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Patras. Her research activity focuses on the design, synthesis, and physicochemical characterization of advanced inorganic materials, with particular emphasis on coordination compounds of transition metals and lanthanides. Her research interests center on the development of multifunctional materials, with a focus on the exploitation of the Spin Crossover (SCO) phenomenon and Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for diverse applications. She has participated in 13 research and development (R&D) projects funded by the European Union, the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT, Greece), and USA. She is co-author of 40 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals and one book chapter. She is a co-inventor of two national and international patents (Greece, Europe, USA). Dr. Lada has worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT, FORTH) and at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. She has been visiting researcher at several international research centers and universities, including Queen’s University Belfast, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (CRPP) in Bordeaux, France, and the Department of Physics at Florida State University, USA. She is a member of the COST Action CA22147 – European Metal–Organic Framework Network (EU4MOFs), which aims to promote MOF-based technological solutions. She has served, or is serving, on the Organizing Committee of two international conferences (in Greece and Ireland). She is a member of the editorial board of two international journals and has acted as Guest Editor for five Special Issues in the field of Applied Inorganic Chemistry. She has participated in 45 international conferences and has delivered nine invited talks at international conferences and workshops. |
