Patras is connected by air mainly through the Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos") and the Araxos National Airport. Patras is, also, connected to Europe through Italy by sea.

How to reach Patras from AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos"

The AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos" is located in Spata, 33 km southeast of Athens, and at a distance of approximately 240 kms from Patras. Patras is connected to AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos" by bus, car or train. You have the following options concerning your transportation from Athens Airport to Patras:

By Bus

Right outside the baggage claim area at the arrivals level (exits 4 & 5) take the Express Line X93 to the Kifisos Intercity Bus Station (KTEL). The route duration from the AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos" to the Kifisos Intercity Bus Station (KTEL) is about 1 hour, depending on the traffic load. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos" to the Kifisos Intercity Bus Station (KTEL). Taxis serve on a 24-hour basis. The route duration is approximately 30 minutes, and the cost is ~ 50 €. From the Kifisos Intercity Bus Station (central station for busses that run domestic routes all over the country) take the bus to Patras. Buses depart every 30 minutes, from 5:30h till 22:00h. The trip duration, taking the Express Bus to Patras, is about 2.5 h (the Express Bus itinerary does not include intermediate stops).

By Car

Several car rental companies currently operate at AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos" with offices located at the Arrivals level. The car rental area is within walking distance from the Main Terminal Building, located at the northern side of the building. Take the Attiki Odos highway (a high-speed 6-lane toll motorway) from the AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos" towards Athens, and follow the signs to Elefsina. Stay on this course for ca 55 Km (this route bypasses Athens from the north side). At the end of Attiki Odos (entrance of E94 highway) start following the signs to Korinthos (do not take the exit to Elefsina). This course will bring you to the Toll Station at the entrance of the Athens - Korinhos - Patras Highway. Cross the Toll Station and follow the signs to Korinthos for ca 55 Km. Just before reaching the exit to Korinthos, start following the signs to Patras. Stay on this course (E65 highway) for ca 120 Km. Approximately 3 Km after the Rio toll station (about 200 km from Athens), take the first exit to Rio/Agios Vasilios, and follow the signs to the FORTH/ICE-HT.

By Taxi and Limousine

Taxis and limousines queue outside the AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos", next to Exit 3, Arrivals Level, providing service on a 24-hour basis. The average trip duration to Patras by taxi/limousine is 2.5 hrs and the one-way fare (regardless of passenger numbers) is in excess of 350 € (plus any extra charges for excessive luggage). The driver is obliged to have the meter running for the duration of your journey. Please note that legally, taxi drivers at the airport reserve the right not to accept to take you to Patras.

By Train

There are no trains connecting directly Athens International Airport (AIA) "Eleftherios Venizelos" with Patras, but a combination of train and bus can be used. Use the Suburban Railway System (Proastiakos) from AIA "Eleftherios Venizelos" to Kiato terminal station (Kiato). Trains run approximately every one hour and the route duration is 1.5 h. At Kiato terminal station take the OSE bus to Patras. The route duration is approximately 1.5 h. How to reach Patras from Araxos National Airport (GPA)

The Araxos National Airport covers the needs of charter flights April through October. The airport lies 45 km southwest of the city of Patras and it is classified as military. Several charter flights from European countries (Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Austria, France, Slovakia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic) offer weekly flights to Araxos National Airport during the above-mentioned period.

How to reach Patras from Italy (by ferry)

Patras' modern port (located very close to the centre) connects the city with Italy through over 50 scheduled ferry routes per week. There are numerous operating companies departing from Venice, Ancona, Bari and Brindisi. Useful links: Patras Port Authority S.A., PatrasInfo.com
