1988: PhD in Chemistry, University of Paris 7, France.
1985: MSc (DEA) in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics and Chemistry of Pollution, University of Paris 7, France.
1984: BSc. in Chemistry, Department of Chemistry University of Athens, Greece.

2008 - : Professor of Computational Environmental Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Crete.
2002 - 2007: Associate Professor of Computational Environmental Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Crete.

Research Activities:


Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics with focus on tropospheric composition and climate changes due to human activities and on gas/particle interactions.

 

Participation in Research Projects:

Coordinator in 2 European Competitive Projects and Principal Investigator in 10 European Competitive Projects and co- Principal Investigator in 3 European Competitive Projects. Principal Investigator in 19 National and bilateral Competitive projects in Greece and France.

 

Services to the International Scientific Community:


  • Member of the Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Pollution (CACGP) of the IAMAS since 1998 (served as President 2006-2010).
  • Member of the Group of Experts on Scientific Aspects of Marine Environmental Protection (GESAMP) WG 38 on 'The Atmospheric Input of Chemicals to the Ocean' since 2008.

 

Publications:

85 publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals and 13 in reviewed books.

 

Conference Participation/Attendance:

34 invited/ keynote talks at international conferences and workshops and more than 160 additional presentations at international conferences.

 

Teaching:

Environmental Chemistry, Introduction to Chemistry, Physics and Chemistry of the Atmosphere, Introduction to Computing Sciences, Computing Environmental Chemistry.

 

Editorship of Journals:

Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics: since Nov. 2009 and as guest editor in 2002-2003.
Atmosphere: Editorial Board since 2010. Served on the editorial boards of Tellus B and Atmospheric Environment.

 

Prizes / Honours :


  • H. Julian Allen Award 1998 - NASA Ames Research Center on the 20th of July 1998.
  • Reviewer's award of editor assistance - Journal of Geophysical Research - Atmosphere 1998.
  • Ph.D. grant from the National Greek State organization (IKY) (1985-1988).
