The 9^th International Conference of the Hellenic Crystallographic Association (HECRA) took place on October 5-7, 2018 at the Conference and Cultural Center of the University of Patras. The conference was co-organized by HECRA, the University of Patras, the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of FORTH, and Patras Science Park, and was supported by the European Crystallographic Association (ECA). The conference started with welcome addresses by the vice-rector of the University of Patras, Prof. Chr. Bouras, the Director of FORTH/ICE-HT, Dr. V. Burganos, the President of Patras Science Park, Prof. V. Anastassopoulos, and the President of the Hellenic Crystallographic Association, Dr. S. Zographos, An opening lecture was delivered by the Alternate Minister for Research & Innovation, Prof. Costas Fotakis, entitled “Building Knowledge Economy as an Antidote to Crisis”.

The conference included plenaries and microsymposia on the recent advances in CryoEM,  XFELs, synchrotrons, spectroscopic methods and other related techniques for the study of material structure.
