ΕΡΕΥΝΗΤΙΚΕΣ ΔΡΑΣΤΗΡΙΟΤΗΤΕΣ

Focus on the experimental and theoretical investigation of the optical, vibrational and electronic properties of advanced materials with emphasis on novel allotropes of carbon such as fullerenes, carbon nanotubes and graphene, which are essentially the main building blocks for the development of nanotechnology, as well as other two-dimensional materials (BN and transition metal dichalcogenides). Basic component of the research is the understanding and manipulation of materials properties. This can be achieved either physically by varying an external parameter like temperature, pressure, mechanical strain/stress or chemically by modifying the chemical composition or decorating the graphitic surfaces of carbon nanomaterials.
