The project involved the development of flexible and light textile panels and garments that combine anti-ballistic protection with protection from sharp objects (e.g., knife) and would offer concrete advantages over commercially available ones, which are relatively heavy, bulky and rigid. The surface interconnection of the basic panel material with new generation, rigid polymers appears to satisfy the new requirements without compromising protection. In addition, the suits under development have built-in warning systems for toxic gases and built-in GPS to locate the user in case of emergency.<\/p>\n
