The 13th<\/sup> Distinguished Lecture “Alkiviades Ch. Payatakes<\/a>” of the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH\/ICE-HT), took place on Tuesday, December 17, 2024<\/strong> at the institute’s conference center.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlkibiades Ch. Payatakes\u201d Distinguished Lectures are organized every year by FORTH\/ICE-HT in Patras, to honor the memory of\u00a0A. C. Payatakes<\/a>\u00a0(1945-2009), Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Patras, Director of ICE-HT (1999-2006), and Chairman of FORTH from 2006 until his passing, on the 29th November 2009.<\/p>\n

The Distinguished Lecture was given by Costas Kyparissides<\/strong>, Professor Emeritus of the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Researcher at CPERI\/CERTH. His lecture was entitled “Digital Twins in Polymer Manufacturing: from Molecular Scale Phenomena to Plant-Scale Production<\/strong>“. During the event, the family of Prof. Payatakes was presented with a plaque of honour for his services and contribution as a Founding Member and Director of ICE-HT “1999-2006”.<\/p>\n

The welcome address was given by the Deputy Director of ICE-HT, Dr. Vasilis Burganos, paying tribute to the late A. C. Payatakes, for his work as Researcher, Professor, Director and President.<\/p>\n

The event was honoured by the presence of the chairmen of the departments of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Professors Alexandros Katsaounis and Achilleas Theocharis, members of the academic community, friends and former colleagues.<\/p>\n
