The Conference was organized by IFAC, supported by the Comit\u00e9 Espa\u00f1ol de Autom\u00e1tica (CEA) acting as IFAC National Member Organization, in collaboration with the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/foundation-for-research-technology-hellas-forth-\/\">Foundation for Research and Technology &#8211; Hellas (FORTH)<\/a> in Greece. FOSBE2024 was co-sponsored by the European Infrastructure on Biological Data Management &amp; Analysis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/elixir-europe\/\">ELIXIR<\/a>, with special support by its Systems Biology Community and the Greek Node (ELIXIR-GR). With more than 90 participants from academia, industry and scientific journals from 18 countries, of whom more than half being graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, FOSBE 2024 was a resounding success, continuing the mission of the FOSBE series to advance the fields of systems and synthetic biology through the integration of systems engineering, mathematical modeling, and process control principles.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s conference comprised five sessions, two keynote (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/nikoskyrpides\/\">Nikos Kyrpides<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/mrsheriff\/\">Rahuman Sheriff<\/a>) and nine invited lectures (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ioannis-androulakis-843b012\/\">Ioannis Androulakis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dvd-fiore\/\">Davide Fiore<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/livija-deban-7b6045151\/\">Livija Deban<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/rennos-fragkoudis-a78b7a12\/\">Rennos Fragkoudis<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/tracihaddock\/\">Traci Haddock<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/massimo-lai-482b871a\/\">Massimo Lai<\/a>, Tereza Manousaki, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/barbara-szomolay-522670a8\/\">Barbara Szomolay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/shihui-shane-yang-b50b842\/\">Shihui (Shane) YANG<\/a>), 19 solicited oral and 46 poster presentations. FOSBE 2024 also focused on the future trajectory of systems and synthetic biology, including two panels: (1) &#8220;Systems &amp; Synthetic Biology: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=innovation&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7241479859913297922\">Innovation<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=entrepreneurship&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7241479859913297922\">Entrepreneurship<\/a>&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alejovigno\/\">Alejandro Vignoni<\/a>, Kyrpides, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/marc-biarnes-carrera-43615a91\/\">Marc Biarnes Carrera<\/a>, Haddock, Lai, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/spyros-i-vernardis-7232141a\/\">Spyros I. Vernardis<\/a>) , and (2) &#8220;Systems &amp; Synthetic Biology: What about training, funding and publishing?&#8221; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/john-hancock-6a83b124\/\">John Hancock<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jes%C3%BAs-pic%C3%B3-5a0a2723\/\">Jes\u00fas Pic\u00f3 i Marco<\/a>, Androulakis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/thomas-c-collin\/\">Thomas C. Collin, PhD<\/a>). We underline the support of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/frontiers\/\">Frontiers<\/a> in Systems Biology journal, which organized a special session on &#8220;Breaking Down Silos and Integrating Datasets, Toolsets, and Mindsets in Partnership with FOSBE&#8221; (presented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/yoram-vodovotz-93a7977\/\">Yoram Vodovotz<\/a> and T. Collin), inaugurating its Young Investigator Award (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ashti-shah\/\">Ashti Shah<\/a>). The FOSBE Award for his great contribution to the fields of systems and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=syntheticbiology&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7241479859913297922\">hsyntheticbiology<\/a> was presented to Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/jes%C3%BAs-pic%C3%B3-5a0a2723\/\">Pic\u00f3<\/a>.
