25 Years ICEHT

The Institute of Chemical Engineering and High Temperature Chemical Processes (ICE/HT) was established in 1984 [1], [2] and began operating within the University of Patras in October of the same year, after the appointment of his first Director [3]. In February 1985 the Law for Research and Technology [4] defined the legal status of the Institute as an Independent Academic institution reporting to the General Secretariat of Research and Technology of the Ministry of Development.  In 1987 ICE/HT was incorporated into the structure of the Foundation of Research and Technology -Hellas (FORTH), the second in size research center in Greece, as an Independent Research Institute [5] and has been  repeatedly evaluated as a Center of Excellence [6]. The research activities of ICE/HT interlink with the National and International scientific community through common research projects [7], exchange of scientific personnel,  training of graduate and post graduate fellows [8] and organization of research seminars [9], conferences and summer schools [10]. In addition to fundamental research, the Institute conducts applied and technological research in a great variety of fields and provides specialized services to the Greek industry. Within the frame work of its original aims the Institute was instrumental in starting and operating the first Science and Technology Park [11] in Greece, in creating high technology spin off companies [12] and in offering services to public and private organizations in the District of Western Greece [13]. For  celebrating the  ICE/HT- 25 years of operation the following events have been scheduled:

a) A series of lectures from distinguished scientists

b) The publication of a commemorative brochure (73 MB, pdf)
